This down draft system has been very difficult to install. We purchased it because it appeared to be an updated model of our previous GE cooktop that needed replacement. The down draft system for this model is not centered the same way as our previous model. My husband can do pretty much anything mechanical, so we never pay for installation or assembly, but I™™m really wishing we™™d paid for installation at this point. Yes, it cooks. We™™re still working on getting the downdraft system vented to outside our house.

Product was a replacement for our previous GE Profile Electric Glass Cooktop. A metal can slipped from my wife's hand and hit the cooktop and broke the glass.

Very nice "glass" cook top. Lots of dos and don'ts. Must read manual b4 you first use it--a must! Granite install brackets not included in box, nor did I know that I would have to go to my local home store to buy a rectangle to round fan vent system adapter, so 4/5. My installer doesn't carry granite brackets or those adapters, so it will take him two trips after install parts ordered/rec'd to complete install. Design is well laid out features and electrical engineering seems well thought out. The lock out with alarm buzzer was not what I expected. Three of us jumped when we first tried the function. If the unit serves us as well as the former Jenn Air equivalent did for 15 years I would forget about the install issues and go with 5/5. Needless to say, for the price we are pretty excited about the quality of the device.

I've only been using this product for one day, but the burners seem to work properly.
Some minor compaints: 1) the nuts provided for attatching the fan to the downdraft unit were the wrong size. 2) the ceramic cleaning cream was not included in the box. 3) The sticker onthe glass top was extremely hard to remove - it took close to 30 minutes and lots of "Goof Off" to scrape off.

Installed it a couple weeks ago and so far it™™s working great. Burners heat to temperature In except able time and quick boil is great. Cleaning up isn™™t that bad after use. The possible only complaint is that it can™™t use my cast iron pans on it, but it isn™™t going to make me lower my five star rating

Not many models for electric downdraft cooktop with these dimensions. Replaced an old 40 year old Jennair perfectly. We like the sleek black design and intuitive knobs and features. The fan is nice and strong. Fit perfectly as a direct replacement. Some may need to ensure there is enough space underneath to attach to your vent as the fan assembly is quite bulky.

After being told that my price included installation during delivery by the associate that sold me the product, I was very opptomistic. However, when delivered, the guys explained that it did not include install. Not only that, but it would require a specific havc person to conclude the install. GE refused to pay for my installment eventhough the associate that sold me the product even called to concur that it was covered under my plan. GE explained that they would give me $100 for the inconvenience. That minimal amount is nothing compared to the actual cost of the install that is five times that amount.
They were unwilling to pay for the install, eventhough it was their associate that committed to the install in the first place.
After install, I noticed there were several scratches by the top grill vent for the down draft. My husband and I both looked over the product before install, and could not see the scratches in the lighting until after it was installed. The guy that installed it said it looks to be a manufactuer's flaw under the glass.
Since, I had to wait so long to get someone out here to complete the install - after the seven day expiration had concluded for returns, he informed me to get in touch with the manufacturer for their warranty.
I had problems with the oven I bought a year and a half ago too.
Quality has plummeted at GE, and it's a shame because they used to have great products. I have been purchasing GE for 30 years, but I'm done.
When they sell products that they can't even install, and their sales people tell me it's included in my price, AND they can't even understand or comprehend why it wasn't, then that's where I draw the line.
Quality assurance has gone down the tubes over the years and its a real shame:(

Cooktop was shipped defective from the factory. Note you only have 7 days to inspect so if you are doing a project that requires your equipment early to stage for installation in a remodel, we could not figure out it was defective in that time frame. Further I had to pay for installation twice because the defect were controls which cannot be seen on visual inspection. Positive, the 2nd unit performs well and has a strong down draft fan.

This is my second glass downdraft cooktop, so I knew what to look for in the new one. This GE version has everything I was looking for! It features non-electronic dials located in the lower center area of the cooktop, which is a great change from the electronic push buttons I had used. The electronic push buttons had been problematic in my prior cooktop, to say the least. Also, the downdraft grate is shorter, yet provides a stronger "suck," which is very helpful when you fry something with a distinct smell. The controls work perfectly, and the burners respond as they should.
NOTE: Be mindful of how you clean up the cooktop after you cook. Do not use a razor of any kind to scrape off food remnants as it will definitely scratch the surface. Instead, use any brand of creamy glass cooktop cleaner and a sponge.
So far, this is an excellent choice for a downdraft cooktop. Check it out!

A standard countertop cabinet is not deep enough for the product. It is too long especially when you add the transition part, which it doesn™™t come with it. Especially if you are replacing your old similar downdraft stove. I really wanted to
return it but wasn™™t sure if that was possible. The unit came without the vent cover grille. It was a lot of headache. Wish I went with one with out the ventilation system.

Once I get the exhaust system installed I expect to like the product. I™™ve been very pleased with GE products in the past. Would have preferred electronic controls rather than manual knobs but couldn™™t find those in a downdraft model.

This is my second GE downdraft cooktop. I bought the fist one in 2010. It served well for 14 years until I dropped a heavy glass object on it. I kept using for about a year until some water dripped do into the long crack. My spouse told me I better get her new one just like it if iwanted her to continue preparing my meals. So here I am writing a review. This an excellent cook top that will provide with many years of service. It has been a beautiful addition to to our kitchen. My spouse and I love it. The profile line is of excellent quality and design. I don™™t have to think twice about the purchase of this great product

The burners heat quickly and the vent draws okay. The main problem is that is is impossible to clean the glass top. We have tried several products but it difficult and time-consuming to remove all spills or smudges from this cooktop.
